A newborn baby was rescued after being found abandoned in Khaidong village, East Jaintia Hills, on April 29. The infant was discovered by Jini Sukhlain, who immediately ensured the child was taken to Sutnga Community Health Centre for medical examination.

Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Khliehriat Women Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for abandoning the child. Medical officials are closely monitoring the baby’s condition as inquiries continue.
