CM Dr Manik Saha Says 7,104 Teaching Posts Filled in Tripura Since 2018

Agartala, May 14, 2026: The Tripura government has provided appointments to 7,104 teaching personnel since 2018, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Thursday.

He made the statement while distributing offer letters to 865 newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers at Rabindra Shatabarshi Bhavan in Agartala.

According to the Chief Minister, the Secondary Education Department has recruited 1,471 Post Graduate Teachers, 444 Graduate Teachers, 88 Special Educators, 115 School Librarians, and 106 Physical Education Teachers over the years. In the Elementary Education sector, 3,776 Graduate Teachers and 1,104 Undergraduate Teachers have been appointed.

Dr. Saha further informed that under the die-in-harness scheme, 236 individuals were recruited to LDC and Group-D posts through the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT). In addition, through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT), appointments were made to 117 LDC posts and 450 Multi-Tasking Staff posts under the Secondary Education Department, while another 47 LDCs and 122 Multi-Tasking Staff were also recruited. Altogether, JRBT has recruited 736 individuals, he said, adding that the government has already submitted further requisitions to TRBT for additional recruitment.

Highlighting the government’s employment initiatives, the Chief Minister stated that a total of 20,960 jobs, including die-in-harness appointments, have been provided in the state till May 8. Besides this, 24,078 contractual and outsourced jobs have also been generated since the 2018–19 financial year.

“These figures clearly show that despite financial limitations, our government remains committed to employment generation, infrastructure development, and the welfare of the people,” he said.

Dr. Saha also emphasized that the government has been fulfilling the aspirations of the youth through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, and described the appointment of 865 Post Graduate Teachers as a significant achievement in strengthening the education sector.

He urged the newly recruited teachers to work with sincerity, dedication, and responsibility to ensure quality education for students. Stressing the role of teachers beyond academics, he said educators should remain attentive to behavioural changes among students and play an active role in guiding them properly.

The Chief Minister congratulated all the newly appointed teachers and wished them success in their future careers.

Among those present at the programme were School Education Secretary Milind Ramteke, Director of Secondary and Elementary Education Rajib Dutta, SCERT Director L. Darlong, the Chairman of TRBT, and other officials.
