Shillong, May 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has assured that discussions with Assam on the unresolved border disputes will resume shortly. Addressing the press, he explained that the process would move forward once the newly elected Assam government has settled in following its swearing-in ceremony.
“The new government has just been sworn in in Assam, and therefore, let a few days pass. I will communicate with the Chief Minister of Assam, and we will definitely take the discussion forward soon,” Sangma stated.
His remarks come amid ongoing efforts by both states to resolve the remaining areas of difference along their shared boundary. Sangma emphasized that dialogue remains the preferred path to achieving a lasting settlement, underscoring the commitment of both governments to continue negotiations in a constructive manner.
