Agartala, May 16, 2026: The mother and wife of late Rahul Kishore Roy, former Ward No. 5 Councillor of Dharmanagar and Yuva Morcha Mandal President, on Saturday appealed to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha seeking justice and immediate intervention in the investigation into his death.
Addressing a press conference in Dharmanagar, the family members alleged that although they had earlier handed over two mobile phones belonging to Rahul Ray to the police, they now suspect that attempts are being made to erase threatening messages and other crucial data stored in the devices under political pressure.
They further alleged that due to political interference, the Dharmanagar police have failed to take prompt action and are delaying the arrest of the accused persons in the case.
The family members claimed that State Yuva Morcha President Sushanta Deb and Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty had assured them of support. However, they alleged that despite such assurances, no visible progress or concrete action has been taken so far.
Expressing their faith in the Chief Minister, the bereaved family appealed to him through the media to ensure a fair and speedy investigation, immediate arrest of the accused, and protection of the investigation process from any form of political influence.
They urged the Chief Minister to ensure that the police are allowed to perform their duties independently and without any external pressure or obstruction. The family reiterated that they are now solely relying on the intervention of the Chief Minister for justice in the case.
