Guwahati, May 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Assam Cricket Museum at the Barsapara ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Monday, marking a significant milestone in preserving the state’s sporting heritage. Alongside the museum’s launch, he unveiled a documentary titled The Golden Innings: Legacy of Assam Cricket, which chronicles the evolution of cricket in the state since the establishment of the Assam Cricket Association in 1948.
The museum has been designed to safeguard archival records, rare memorabilia, and landmark moments from Assam’s cricketing journey, spanning from the pre-Independence era to the present day. It pays tribute to the pioneers and celebrated figures who shaped the sport in the region, while also serving as a source of inspiration for younger generations eager to learn about Assam’s cricketing legacy.

The documentary, directed by Samujjal Kashyap, captures the growth of cricket in Assam through rare photographs and detailed narration, highlighting the contributions of eminent players and landmark achievements over the decades. Chief Minister Sarma commended the Assam Cricket Association for undertaking these initiatives, emphasizing their importance in honoring the state’s sporting culture.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, Assam Cricket Association President and MLA Taranga Gogoi, along with several distinguished guests, underscoring the collective pride in Assam’s cricketing journey.
