Nagaland: African Swine Fever Advisory Issued After Outbreak in 3 Areas Under Tuli

Kohima, May 20: Following confirmed outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Chungtia village, Kangtsungyimsen village, and Shitikolak Ward under Tuli Sub-Division, the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has urged the public to refrain from buying or consuming pork in the affected areas and adjoining regions.

According to an advisory issued by the district administration, the Veterinary Department, in coordination with local authorities, has been directed to strictly monitor the infected zones. The advisory stated that the import of pigs from outside the state will be closely regulated, with mandatory testing of all consignments entering the district.

It further informed that the transit time for imported pigs at designated stockyards in Tuli Sub-Division should not exceed 24 hours. Additional testing will also be conducted before transportation of pigs to other districts.

The public has been advised to immediately report any unusual behaviour or suspected pig deaths linked to ASF to the office of the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung.
