Arunachal Pradesh: East Siang Police Secure Conviction in NDPS Case; Accused Gets 1-Year Jail

Itanagar, May 20: East Siang Police have secured the conviction of Rijon Doley in Pasighat Police Station Case No. 46/2025 under Sections 21(a) and 27(a) of the NDPS Act on Tuesday.

The case was initiated on June 9, 2025, after police received credible information about illegal possession of suspected heroin at the accused’s residence in Banskota, Pasighat. Acting promptly, Pasighat Police conducted a search and registered a case.

Before the Special Judge (NDPS), Pasighat, the accused pleaded guilty to both charges. The Court convicted Doley and sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment under each section.

Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, IPS, said the conviction reflects the district police’s sustained efforts to enforce the NDPS Act and work towards a drug-free society.

Reaffirming the force’s commitment to combating drug peddling and substance abuse, SP Lamba appealed to the public, especially youth, to stay away from drugs and support the police in the fight against narcotics.
