Agartala, May 21, 2026: In a rare and remarkable development from Tripura’s remote Jampui Hills, Vanghmun Police Station in North Tripura has not registered a single FIR or criminal case so far in 2026, reflecting an extraordinary atmosphere of peace, public discipline and community harmony in the region.
The information was confirmed by Anurag Dhankar, who stated that no case has been recorded at the police station during the current year. The achievement has drawn attention from both local and national media, with many describing it as a unique example of successful community-oriented policing in the country.
Located near the India-Bangladesh border in the scenic Jampui Hills, Vanghmun Police Station serves a culturally diverse population comprising mainly Mizo, Bru and Chakma communities. Despite its remote terrain and ethnic diversity, the area has continued to maintain strong communal harmony and social stability.
Police officials attribute the achievement to close coordination between law enforcement agencies and local residents. According to sources, regular interaction with village elders, youth bodies and community organisations has helped resolve minor disagreements through dialogue before they could escalate into legal disputes.

The officer-in-charge of Vanghmun Police Station, Sub-Inspector Lalringpuia Darlong, along with local police personnel, has also been credited for maintaining strong public trust and ensuring proactive policing across the region.
Residents of Jampui Hills say the culture of brotherhood and mutual respect has existed in the area for generations. Community-based mediation and social understanding continue to play an important role in maintaining peace in everyday life.
Already known for its scenic beauty, cleanliness and tourism appeal, Vanghmun is now earning recognition for another reason — emerging as one of the rare police jurisdictions in the country to function without a single registered criminal case during the year.
Observers believe the development highlights how cooperation between citizens and the administration can create a peaceful social environment and significantly reduce crime and conflict.
