Leader of the Manipur Congress Legislature Party K Meghachandra Singh on Tuesday said a Congress delegation met officials of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in New Delhi and submitted a complaint highlighting the prevailing situation in Manipur, alleging serious human rights concerns and civilian suffering in the State.

Speaking after visiting the NHRC office, Meghachandra Singh said the delegation met the NHRC Chairman and expressed concern over what he described as worsening conditions in Manipur.

“We are here at the National Human Rights Commission regarding the issues in Manipur. We met the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and filed a complaint concerning the current situation in Manipur,” he said.

The Congress leader alleged that civilians in Manipur continue to face hardships and claimed that “gross human rights violations” are taking place in the State.

Referring to recent developments, Meghachandra further alleged that since May 13, 2026, innocent civilians belonging to both the Naga and Kuki communities have reportedly been abducted over the past few weeks.

Manipur has been witnessing prolonged ethnic tensions and unrest since violence erupted in the State in 2023, raising continuing concerns over security, displacement and humanitarian conditions.
