Agartala, May 28, 2026: The Tripura government is set to organise a large-scale business conclave in July as part of its efforts to bring greater industrial investment to the state, officials said.

The proposed conclave is likely to attract investment proposals worth nearly Rs 40,000 crore, driven by positive responses from business groups and investors participating in recent outreach programmes, Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte said.

He said Tripura has emerged as the first state in the country to successfully implement all priority reforms under the second phase of the Centre’s deregulation and compliance reduction programme aimed at simplifying industrial clearances and approvals.

Since 2022, the state has signed 394 MoUs involving proposed investments of Rs 35,140 crore, while projects worth Rs 5,352 crore have already been implemented on the ground, he added.

According to Gitte, the government has strengthened key infrastructure sectors, including transport and connectivity, to support industrial growth and improve ease of doing business. He noted that roadshows are being conducted in different metropolitan cities to promote Tripura as an attractive investment destination.

The state government is currently investing around Rs 10,000 crore in infrastructure development and expects similar participation from private investors. Such investments, he said, could significantly enhance Tripura’s economic growth and raise the state GDP contribution.

The official further informed that initiatives are also being taken to invite leading IT companies to establish operations in the state.

Referring to the Maitri Setu linking Sabroom in Tripura with Ramgarh in Bangladesh, Gitte said the state has already approached the Centre for its operationalisation and expressed hope that the international connectivity project would be opened soon.
