Agartala, June 01, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Sunday said that digital adoption among street vendors in Tripura has witnessed significant growth under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, with 5,982 vendors onboarded for digital transactions and 3,152 regularly using digital payment platforms. The cumulative value of transactions has reached around Rs 202.34 crore.

The Chief Minister was addressing a programme at Muktadhara Auditorium organised to mark the sixth anniversary of the PM SVANidhi scheme, where financial assistance was distributed to beneficiaries. The event was attended by Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar.

Describing PM SVANidhi as a transformative initiative, Dr. Saha said the scheme has played a crucial role in enhancing the dignity, self-reliance and economic stability of street vendors. He noted that street vendors are an integral part of urban life, contributing significantly to local economies and supporting thousands of families.

Recalling the hardships faced by vendors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM SVANidhi scheme in 2020 to provide financial support and help vendors become self-sufficient.

Highlighting the scheme’s achievements in Tripura, Dr. Saha informed that 8,666 street vendors have so far been identified and issued vending certificates. Out of 11,727 loan applications received, 9,578 have been sanctioned, while loans have been disbursed to 9,301 beneficiaries. A total of Rs 15.28 crore has been released under the scheme, and nearly 5,000 beneficiaries have already repaid their loans.

The Chief Minister said the success of PM SVANidhi reflects the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development and ensuring financial empowerment for every section of society.
