Agartala, June 03, 2026: In a commendable display of prompt action and coordination, Tripura’s Jatrapur Police Station staff in Sepahijala district successfully traced and rescued a missing housewife from the Rajarhat area of Kolkata, West Bengal, and safely reunited her with her family. The incident has brought immense relief to residents of the Nirbhoypur area.

Police sources informed that, Pramita Bhowmik (Majumdar), a resident of the border village of Nirbhoypur under Jatrapur Police Station, had left her home on May 23 along with her young child. Her husband, Prasenjit Majumdar, along with other family members, launched an extensive search when she failed to return, leading to growing concern over her whereabouts.

Upon receiving the report, Jatrapur Police initiated a thorough investigation using modern technological tools. By tracking mobile phone signals, analyzing CCTV footage, and monitoring social media activity, investigators were able to trace Pramita’s location to a hotel in Rajarhat on the outskirts of Kolkata.

Acting swiftly on this information, a special police team, accompanied by the woman’s husband and mother-in-law, proceeded to Rajarhat. The team successfully rescued both Pramita and her child from the hotel and brought them back safely to Tripura on Monday.

Officer-in-Charge of Jatrapur Police Station, Partha Nath Bhowmik, stated that the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence inputs. The rescue team, led by Sub-Inspector Bijoy Chakraborty, executed the mission efficiently and ensured the safe return of the individuals.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances that led to the housewife leaving her home. Authorities have also advised the family to treat the matter with sensitivity and ensure that no form of physical or mental distress is caused to her.
