Agartala, June 12, 2026: Tipra Motha Party founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has expressed optimism over the future of the Tiprasa Accord, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that the concerns of Tripura and the Northeast will be addressed.

In a Facebook post after attending the NDA meeting, Pradyot said his interaction with the Prime Minister was positive and that the Centre has understood the seriousness of issues related to the indigenous communities of Tripura.

According to Pradyot, PM Modi enquired about his mother during their meeting and assured him that efforts would be made to find solutions to the long-standing concerns affecting Tripura and the Northeast.

He said his decision to attend the NDA gathering was aimed at placing the demands and aspirations of the people of Tripura before the country’s leadership. Pradyot maintained that the Prime Minister represents the entire nation beyond political boundaries and expressed hope that the commitments made under the Tiprasa Accord would lead to meaningful outcomes.

Highlighting the journey of the Tipra Motha movement, Pradyot said that despite the party’s victory in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the fight for constitutional, political, land, financial and economic rights of indigenous people remains ongoing.

He stated that the movement was not driven by electoral interests but by the future of the Tiprasa community and upcoming generations.

“Politics has been practised in Tripura for 75 years, but the core issues of our people remain unresolved. Our priority is securing rights and a better future, not political gains,” he said.

Pradyot also claimed that after the TTAADC election victory, discussions were held with Central government officials who acknowledged the concerns of indigenous communities and showed willingness to work towards addressing them.

He further said he has never blamed leaders in New Delhi, whether from the BJP or Congress, as he believes the challenges in implementing solutions are linked more to internal issues within Tripura.

Referring to ongoing discussions with Intelligence Bureau officials, interlocutors, and MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Pradyot said consultations with all stakeholders would continue.

He alleged that some groups within Tripura do not want the Tiprasa Accord to succeed, but asserted that the Centre now recognises that the issue is not merely political but connected with the rights and identity of the Tiprasa people.

“We do not want to politicize this matter. Our focus is the welfare of our people and the future of the next generation,” Pradyot added.
