In a startling turn of events, a bear managed to break free from the Aizawl Zoological Park in Mizoram yesterday.
The Director of the park, PC Laltanpuid, revealed that the escape occurred when a tree toppled into the bear enclosure due to the relentless gusts of wind that had been sweeping across Mizoram in recent days.
Seizing the opportunity, one of the bears utilised the fallen tree trunk to scale its way out of the enclosure.
Efforts to apprehend the escaped bear are underway, with the assistance of a tranquilizer gun and traps borrowed from the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in Selesih.
Despite the challenges posed by the weather conditions and the elusive nature of the bear, park officials remain optimistic that the bear is still within the confines of the Zoological Park.
Vigilant staff members are stationed at strategic locations, monitoring the traps in hopes of a successful capture.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have taken the decision to close the Zoological Park to the public today.
This move aims to ensure the safety of visitors and to facilitate the ongoing search operation without any disruptions.
