The Winter Session of Parliament, scheduled to run until December 20, has a packed agenda with the Narendra Modi-led government listing 16 bills for introduction, consideration, and passage. However, the Opposition INDIA bloc has demanded discussions on pressing issues, including bribery allegations against the Adani Group and the recent surge in violence in Manipur.

Among the 16 bills, five are slated for introduction, consideration, and passage, while 11 are for consideration and passage. Notable legislative proposals include the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, the Railways (Amendment) Bill, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, and the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill.

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge is expected to finalize the Opposition’s strategy for the session. The Opposition plans to push for debates on the deteriorating situation in Manipur, the Waqf Bill and the Adani bribery allegations.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju assured earlier today that the Union government is “ready to discuss any topic” and appealed for a peaceful and productive session.
