Agartala, November 26, 2024: AICC General Secretary Christopher Tilak on Monday strongly criticized former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar of the CPIM and current BJP Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accusing them of perpetuating “politics based on violence and torture.”
Speaking at an organizational meeting of the Khowai Congress party at Congress Bhavan in Khowai district, Tilak launched a scathing attack on both the Left Front and the BJP governments, claiming they have failed to address critical issues in the state.
“Both the former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and the current Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha have resorted to politics rooted in violence. This has led to a state where women and youth are left to suffer, and progress remains a distant dream,” Tilak stated during his address.
The meeting was organized by the Khowai Block Congress saw the participation of prominent leaders, including Tripura Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, Youth Congress State President Neelkamal Saha, Pradesh Congress Secretary Kartik Debnath and Congress Teliamura District Committee President Pradyut Bhattacharjee.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Tilak elaborated on his concerns, highlighting critical issues plaguing Tripura. “There are schools but no teachers, hospitals but no doctors. The basic needs of the people are being ignored while political parties engage in divisive and violent tactics. The current BJP government is ruling the state by spreading false narratives of development,” he alleged.
Tilak emphasized that the Congress party is actively working to rebuild its organizational strength across the state. “Our delegation is traveling to every district to promote Congress policies and ideals. We aim to expose the BJP government’s failures, including its inability to deliver on promises made since the 2018 elections,” he said.
He also revealed plans to prepare a detailed charge sheet evaluating the BJP government’s performance. “By January 2025, we will complete this charge sheet and take it to every household in Tripura. The Congress party will show the people how the BJP government has deceived them with empty promises over the past six years,” he added.
Tilak concluded by urging people to recognize the harm caused by political violence and the neglect of essential services, stating, “The BJP government has done nothing for the people in these six years. It is time for the people of Tripura to demand accountability and real progress.”
