Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday stated that fear and uncertainty have taken hold of Manipur, as the state continues to grapple with escalating violence and unrest. Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Gogoi described the situation in the northeastern state as a “grave humanitarian crisis” and criticized the BJP-led government for its inadequate response.

He accused the government of worsening the situation by deploying paramilitary forces and imposing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) rather than working towards a peaceful resolution. “The people of Manipur are living in constant fear. The state is overwhelmed by uncertainty, and the government’s actions are only exacerbating the crisis,” Gogoi said, urging the Union government to take swift and effective steps to restore peace.
