In a continued effort to curb crime and drug trafficking, Manipur Police and security forces conducted successful operations, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved in illegal activities.
In the first case, Manipur Police arrested Meraimayum Ali Hassan (32) from Lilong Mairen Khun, Thoubal District, under Lilong Police Station. A search of his possession led to the seizure of 37 soap cases, each containing suspected brown sugar, with a total weight of 859 grams. The contraband has been confiscated, and further investigation is underway.
In a separate operation on January 27, 2025, security forces apprehended two active cadres of the proscribed group KCP (PWG) from Morok Inkhol village under Sagolmang Police Station, Imphal East District. The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Rajesh Singh (39) and Laishram Tomba (19), both residents of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, Imphal West District. They were allegedly involved in extortion from the public, government officials, and shopkeepers across various areas of Imphal.
Security forces recovered the following items from their possession include one 9mm pistol with a magazine, seven 9mm live rounds, one sling bag, one mobile phone, a wallet containing ₹4,140.
Both cases are currently under further investigation as authorities work to dismantle criminal and militant networks in the region.
