Shillong, Jul 16: The Meghalaya New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (MNREDA) has commenced the installation of off-grid solar power systems at 63 BharatNet-1 sites across the state, officials said on Tuesday. The selected sites include government schools, ICDS centres, and community halls.
The project is aimed at ensuring continuous power supply to BharatNet infrastructure, which is crucial for maintaining internet connectivity in remote and rural areas. It also promotes the use of clean and renewable energy sources.
BharatNet is a Central Government initiative designed to provide broadband connectivity to all Gram Panchayats across India.
