Itanagar, May 7: In a major success under Operation Dawn 2.0, East Siang Police busted a drug peddling network using a high-end vehicle and arrested three persons with suspected heroin and cash at Silluk Village under Mebo Police Station on thursday, 7/5/26.

Acting on intelligence inputs about narcotics being moved from Roing towards Mebo, a police team led by IC ADS Shri Ayup Boko, APPS, laid a naka at Silluk Market on May 6. The team included SI K. Tangha, ASI R. Lowang, and constables Nong Tayeng, Thomas Panyang, Phinjo Kigar, Pankaj Bharali, Lukpe Tally, Karyom Riram and Guyi Siram.

During the operation, the team intercepted a Toyota Hyryder. In the presence of Executive Magistrate Smti Toimi Tagi, CO Mebo Sub-Division, a body and vehicle search was conducted.

Police seized 21.4 grams gross weight of an orange coloured powdery substance suspected to be heroin, four vials, two syringes, and cash amounting to Rs 75,700. The Toyota Hyryder used for transport was also seized.

The contraband and other items were weighed, packed, sealed and documented as per legal procedure. The entire operation was videographed to ensure transparency and procedural compliance, police said.

All three accused were apprehended on the spot. The seized items and the accused were handed over to Mebo Police Station for further legal action.

A case has been registered at Mebo Police Station under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages of the network.

Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, IPS commended the police team for the operation and reiterated the district police’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and related offences.
