ITANAGAR, May 2: In a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, designer Yachi Natung Taniang, Managing Director of Tribal Pattern, has earned national recognition for promoting the state’s traditional design heritage.
Her work has been featured under Padma Doree, an initiative by the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. The initiative fosters cross-cultural collaboration by blending Northeast India’s indigenous patterns with the textile traditions of Chanderi.

Taniang’s designs showcase the artistic richness and cultural identity of Arunachal Pradesh, bringing its heritage to the national spotlight. Her work reflects the region’s craftsmanship while combining innovation with deep respect for tradition.
The recognition highlights the growing prominence of Northeast India in the national design and fashion landscape. It also underlines the need to preserve indigenous art forms while creating new avenues for cultural exchange and creative expression.
Officials said the milestone would inspire emerging designers and artisans from Arunachal to take their cultural legacy to larger platforms across the country.
