Itanagar, Feb 22: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik conferred state gold and silver medals to organizations and individuals for their exceptional contributions and bravery at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Friday. The event also included the presentation of the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration and the felicitation of state athletes who won medals at the 38th National Games.
The state gold medal was awarded to seven organizations and three individuals. The recognized organizations included the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing & Visually Impaired (Chimpu), the cardiology department of Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (Naharlagun), the women police station (Itanagar), Project Vartak under the Border Roads Organization, the Donyi Polo Cultural & Charitable Trust (Itanagar), the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission (Khonsa), and the Centre for Bear Rehabilitation & Conservation (Pakke Tiger Reserve, Seijosa). The individual recipients were Anti-Corruption Bureau SP Anant Mittal, Seppa Police Station OC Inspector Minli Geyi, and Seppa Police Station Constable Jimkam Khomrang.
The state silver medal was conferred on 13 individuals for their contributions in various fields. The awardees included farmer Jambey Dorjee Dunglen (Salari, West Kameng), Tirap DSP Togum Gongo, Shi-Yomi DFDO Tapan Datta, Longding PM Shri Govt Higher Secondary School PGT Jyoti Panka, Shergaon Forest Division Deputy Forest Ranger Mato Bage (West Kameng), aapda mitra George Pajing (Pasighat, East Siang), Kurung Kumey DSP Rishi Longdo, PTC Banderdewa Principal Neha Yadav, Kurung Kumey CO Woipeng Manpoong, West Kameng SP Sudhanshu Dhama, SDRF Chimpu DSP Moyir Basar Kamdak, Tawang entomologist Kushal Bhander Kaystha, and Government College Bomdila (West Kameng) Principal (i/c) Dr. Tashi Phuntso.
The Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration was conferred on two offices and the Agriculture Department. The office of the superintendent of police, Itanagar, received the award for its initiative ‘e-services: Transforming public service delivery in Arunachal Pradesh’, which improved transparency and efficiency. The office of the deputy commissioner, Papum Pare, was recognized for its ‘Innovation Lab Project Creative Catalyst & Speak SMART East’, which introduced innovative governance solutions. The Agriculture Department was awarded for its initiatives, including ‘Championing of Shri Anna (Millets) initiatives’ and ‘CPO Mill Establishment in Arunachal Pradesh.’ The award included a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and an honorary scroll.
The 38th National Games medal winners from Arunachal Pradesh were also felicitated. Gold medalists included Khinsan Wangsu, Rikpy Nyodu, Achum Sanga, Radha Bangsia, Lumter Uli (Taekwondo – Poomsae), Mercy Ngaimong (Wushu – Jiansu), and Nyeman Wangsu (Wushu – Daoshu). Silver medalists were Miching Taja (Taekwondo – Poomsae mixed-pair), Markio Tario (67 kg weightlifting), and Chera Loku (Wushu – Taijiquan). Bronze medalists included Devi Dada (Kayak Cross), Kamdon Boi (Judo), Akash Kumar Ram, Kame Bagang (Taekwondo – Poomsae male group), Balo Yalam (59 kg weightlifting), Yorna Roshni (Wushu – Nandao), and Gyamar Yatup (Wushu – 48 kg Taolu).
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, ministers, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, MLAs, senior government officials, and special invitees. Chief Secretary Manish Gupta conducted the award presentation.
