A 70-year-old trader was shot dead by the suspected militants of proscribed outfit – NSCN-KYA at Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh.
Identified as Atar Singh, the victim trader hailed from Haryana and owned a grocery shop at Longding in Arunachal Pradesh.
The tragic incident occurred at around 6 PM on Sunday. He is survived by his son Arun Kumar Sharma and wife Billo Devi.
According to sources, the group of four militants arrived on a vehicle and fired shots at the trader, who was inside his grocery shop alongwith his wife.
The trader was shot in his chest and was immediately rushed to the Longding Community Health Centre (CHC) for further medical treatment. But succumbed to his injuries.
“Singh, who originally hailed from Haryana, came to Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh around 40 years back,” – sources informed.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh police has apprehended four persons in connection with the incident. In response to the barbaric incident, the traders in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh have called-for a complete shutdown along Longding town; demanding stringent action against the perpetrators.
