The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Northeast India on Friday. States likely to be affected include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
According to the IMD, isolated areas in these states may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The weather conditions may lead to localised disruptions, and residents have been advised to remain cautious.
The IMD also noted that the southwest monsoon is expected to advance further into parts of Northeast and adjoining regions of North and Central India over the next two to three days.
