Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday congratulated the people of Upper Subansiri district for the successful conduct of the environmental public hearing for the 1605 MW Subansiri Upper Hydro Electric Project.

The project, implemented by NHPC, is expected to strengthen the nation’s energy security while creating opportunities for infrastructure development and employment in the district.

Authorities highlighted provisions to ensure that project-affected families benefit directly. Two percent of the power generated will be allocated to the Local Area Development Fund, with one percent to be transferred annually to affected families through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

Deputy Chief Minister Mein noted that cooperation from all stakeholders will be crucial in advancing the project and supporting sustainable development in Upper Subansiri.
