Assam Rifles & Customs Department Seize Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 14 Crore in Tripura

Agartala, July 22, 2025: In a major blow to narcotics trafficking in Tripura, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Customs officials, seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 14 crore in the international market.

The operation was carried out on Monday in the Tuchandrai Bazar area of Khowai district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted an Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number TR-01-AR-1754. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 1,40,000 Yaba tablets hidden within.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody at the spot. Both the seized narcotics and the apprehended individual were later handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Officials termed the operation a significant success in the ongoing crackdown against cross-border drug trafficking. Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to maintaining close coordination with enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities and uphold security in the region.
