Guwahati, May 2: Sibasish Sandilya, an Assam Forest Service officer who topped the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) exam, was arrested after allegedly being caught accepting a bribe. Sandilya, a Forest Ranger in Lakhimpur, allegedly took ₹12,000 from a dumper truck owner at his official residence.
The incident has sparked public outrage over corruption, with many pointing to Sandilya’s background as an APSC topper. The arrest has raised questions about integrity and accountability among officers who enter service through competitive exams.
Police confirmed further investigation is underway and legal proceedings will follow. The case has intensified calls for stronger vigilance and transparency to restore public trust in government institutions.
