Assam CM Announces New Portfolios For Cabinet Ministers

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced the allocation of portfolios among the members of his Council of Ministers with the approval of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. The Chief Minister retained key departments including Home & Political, PWD (Buildings & National Highways), PWD (Roads), Power, and Information & Public Relations, along with Printing & Stationery, and any other department not allotted to other ministers.

Ashwini Ray Sarkar was entrusted with Social Justice & Empowerment, Soil Conservation, and Welfare of Minorities & Development, while Ashok Singhal took charge of Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education & Research. Bimal Borah was given Cultural Affairs, Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, and Act East Policy Affairs. Biswajit Daimary assumed responsibility for Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture, Sports & Youth Welfare, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith & Culture.

Jayanta Mallabaruah was assigned Finance, Environment & Forest, and Mines & Minerals. Kaushik Rai received Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Housing & Urban Affairs, and Cooperation. Keshab Mahanta was allocated Revenue & Disaster Management, Science, Technology & Climate Change, and General Administration. Krishnendu Paul was given Public Health Engineering, Hill Areas, and Barak Valley Development. Nilima Devi took charge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Fishery.

Pijush Hazarika was entrusted with Agriculture, Irrigation, and Parliamentary Affairs, while Ranoj Pegu was assigned School Education, Higher Education, Tribal Affairs (Plain), and Information Technology. Susanta Borgohain assumed responsibility for Water Resources and Judicial.

Extending his best wishes to his colleagues, Chief Minister Sarma expressed confidence that the Council of Ministers, working with dedication and commitment, would continue to serve the people of Assam and accelerate the state’s journey of progress and prosperity.
