Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday visited the historic Rang Ghar in Sivasagar to review the ongoing works under the Rang Ghar Beautification Project. He also inspected a proposal for constructing an RCC-lined covered canal to address the issue of rainwater accumulation in the area.
During the visit, the Chief Minister informed that the beautification work is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed within the next 16 to 18 months.
Taking to social media, Sarma wrote, “This is the historic Rang Ghar in Sivasagar. This 18th-century royal sports pavilion is a symbol of Assam’s rich heritage. We have taken up a comprehensive beautification project of this historical site to preserve and promote it as an attractive tourist destination.”
