Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the state government has intensified its operations against illegal infiltrators, particularly in border districts.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister stated that Assam has begun stricter action to curb illegal infiltration. “For far too long have illegal infiltrators gone scot free. We are tolerating it no more,” Sarma wrote.
He informed that in the past one month alone, 88 individuals identified as Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals have been pushed back to Bangladesh from Cachar district. The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue such operations in the coming days.
