Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday emphasized the rising contribution of wildlife tourism to the state’s economy, noting that conservation-led initiatives have created new livelihood opportunities and strengthened local enterprises around protected areas.
In a post on social media, Sarma emphasized that more than one lakh visitors have chosen to explore Manas National Park and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, underscoring the growing appeal of Assam’s biodiversity hotspots. He remarked that the expansion of eco-resorts and the popularity of jeep safaris illustrate how the state’s natural heritage is being showcased globally while simultaneously supporting communities dependent on tourism.
The Chief Minister described Assam’s wildlife economy as “roaring,” pointing to its ability to generate employment, encourage entrepreneurship, and reinforce the link between ecological preservation and economic progress.
