Guwahati, May 22: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday dismissed a purported map allegedly circulated by some individuals in Bangladesh, which shows parts of Assam as part of that country’s territory.

Speaking at a press conference in Dergaon, Golaghat district, Sarma termed the map baseless and said such actions have no impact on reality. “People can draw and publish such a map. We can also draw a map showing Bangladesh as part of Assam. Even India and the US can be put together on a map. Just drawing a map doesn’t make it real,” he said.

Calling Bangladesh a “small” country, Sarma added that it cannot match India’s strength and should not be given unnecessary attention.
