Guwahati, May 13: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday claimed that the Congress has been receiving votes from the minority community, particularly Muslims, due to fear that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would target them and their religious places if it comes to power.
Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati, Sarma alleged that Congress MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, and Rakibul Hussain secured minority votes not because of their popularity, but due to a “fear psychosis” among voters.
“There is fear in their minds that they will be attacked and their mosques will be burnt if the BJP wins. So, they vote for the Congress,” Sarma stated.
