Guwahati, June 16: Authorities in Assam seized narcotic substances valued at nearly ₹2.5 crore during a major operation in Sribhumi district, leading to the arrest of one suspected trafficker.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the development late Monday, stating that heroin worth ₹2.47 crore was recovered in the raid. “No chamber is secret enough for Assam Police. In a successful operation, Sribhumi Police seized heroin worth ₹2.47 crore and apprehended one accused,” Sarma wrote in a post on X.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing that the crackdown on the narcotics trade will continue with full force across the state.
