Guwahati, Jun 28: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, days after the conclusion of the Ambubachi Festival. Speaking to the media, Sarma said he was unable to visit earlier due to the large gathering of devotees but was thankful for the opportunity to offer prayers to Maa Kamakhya along with his family.

“I prayed for the well-being of the people of Assam,” Sarma said. He also expressed gratitude to the Temple Management Committee, the Tourism Department, and Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass for successfully organising the Ambubachi Festival.

The Chief Minister announced that two ropeways are being planned to improve connectivity to the temple. One will connect Kamakhya railway station to the Kamakhya Temple, while the other will run from Sonaram field to the temple. “Work on both ropeways is underway. The tender process has already been completed,” he added.

Sarma also mentioned that feasibility studies are being conducted for several other potential ropeway projects in the state.
