Agartala, February 03, 2026: Tripura has carved out a significant milestone on the national stage by delivering an exceptional performance in the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0, the results of which were announced on February 2, 2026, by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India.

As per the PAI 2.0 assessment for the 2023–24 financial year, Gram Panchayats across Tripura showcased remarkable efficiency and transparency, emerging as a model for grassroots governance in the country. The state achieved a rare distinction with all 1,176 Gram Panchayats taking part in the evaluation, ensuring 100 per cent data submission and verification at the block, district, state, and national levels. Officials said this achievement underlines the strength of Tripura’s institutional framework and coordinated administrative approach at the village level.

Sharing details of the results, Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman said that Jugal Kishore Nagar Village Committee under Jampuijala RD Block in Sepahijala district topped the national rankings. The Gram Panchayat secured the highest score of 88.44, outperforming nearly 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats from across the country.

“This extraordinary feat highlights Tripura’s leadership and excellence in Panchayat performance at the national level,” the minister said.

He further informed that Tripura continued to dominate the top ranks, with South Nalchar Gram Panchayat of Nalchar RD Block in Sepahijala district securing the third position nationally with a score of 88.14. Chesrimai Gram Panchayat under Charilam RD Block, also in Sepahijala district, stood fourth with an impressive score of 87.85.

The minister said the results reflect the state government’s sustained focus on strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions, data-driven governance, and effective delivery of services at the grassroots level.
