In a significant crackdown on trans-border smuggling, alert troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura conducted multiple operations, thwarting attempts to smuggle contraband across the Indo-Bangladesh border. The successful operations resulted in the rescue of 5 cattle and seizure of: 850 kg of Sugar, Fire Crackers and Other Contraband Items worth ₹ 2,22,594.
Similar successes have been reported in the past, with the BSF apprehending Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter Indian territory and seizing substantial quantities of contraband, including sugar and cattle. The force’s non-lethal strategy has also been effective in preventing trans-border crimes, with over 70 rounds fired in July 2024 to deter smugglers.
The BSF’s efforts have also facilitated the safe return of Indian students from Bangladesh, showcasing their dedication to protecting citizens and maintaining national security.
