Security forces have recovered a cache of weapons, explosives, and narcotics during search operations and area domination exercises conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West district over the past 24 hours, officials said.
In a search operation carried out at Kangchup Kharang area, Porom Ching under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West, security personnel recovered one modified .303 rifle (without magazine), a defective 9 mm carbine with magazine, two single barrel guns, four pistols with four magazines, two locally made pipe bombs, a smoke grenade, one BAOFENG hand-held set with charger, two 12-bore cartridges, one empty AK ammunition case, and three camouflage shirts.
In a separate operation under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district, security forces recovered a dark grey Alto 800 car bearing registration number WB-26S/6240. Inside the vehicle, they found 3.258 kg of suspected WY (amphetamine) tablets, packing materials, and a xerox copy of the registration certificate of another Alto LXI car (NL-05C/3245), from Lilong Arapti Lamkhai near Arapti Bridge.
The seized arms, explosives, and suspected narcotics have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action, according to police sources.
