Agartala, January 12, 2026: In the aftermath of recent violence in Shimultali under the Fatikroy Assembly constituency, Tripura Police have stepped up efforts to restore peace and harmony in the region. Continuous surveillance, swift action, and precautionary measures by the police have gradually brought the situation under control.
Sources informed that miscreants attempted to spark communal unrest late last night by placing an idol inside a mosque in Tarani Nagar. Acting promptly, police reached the spot around 8 a.m. today, January 12, and removed the idol. Though the incident briefly created tension in the area, the firm and timely intervention of law enforcement helped defuse the situation.
Meanwhile, rumors spread across minority-dominated areas of Fatikroy through social media and word of mouth, causing confusion and anxiety among residents. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Utpalendu Debnath assured that the situation is now fully peaceful and under control, urging people not to believe or circulate misleading information.
To maintain law and order, additional forces have been deployed in Shimultali and other sensitive areas. Authorities have confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those identified as responsible for the disturbances.
The proactive role of the police has brought relief to local residents. Officials expressed hope that with public cooperation, peace will prevail and communal harmony will be further strengthened in the region.
