The first conference of the Phaomei Kaikhwang community, residing across Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, began today at Rhema Public Academy, Khumji Bazar, in Noney district of Manipur. The two-day event is being organised under the theme “See How Pleasant It Is to See the Gathering of the Brethren in Unity.”
The inaugural programme was graced by social worker Adai Phaomei as the Chief Guest, who unveiled the conference monolith. Former Deputy Mayor of the Imphal Municipal Corporation, Meibon Phaomei, attended as Guest of Honour and released a commemorative souvenir to mark the occasion.
The opening day witnessed colourful cultural performances, including traditional Ho-Hoeing and cultural dances by the Luangrang Phaomei Kaikhwang cultural troupe, which drew wide appreciation from the audience. Special performances were also presented by the Phaomei Kaipui Group, Longmai Phaomei Kaikhwang, students of Rhema Public Academy, Khumji Bazar, Mr Gaisinpou Phaomei, winner of the LEEKLAM Western Solo Competition, and cultural troupes from Phaomei Kaikhwang, Nagaland. An interactive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) discussion session was held in the evening, followed by cultural and entertainment programmes at night.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Adai Phaomei said that “charity begins at home” and urged the community to practise love, compassion and forgiveness to ensure peace and prosperity in families and society. He emphasised that true devotion must be reflected through mutual respect and care for one another.
In his address, Guest of Honour Meibon Phaomei called upon the gathering to uphold humility and extend due respect and honour to everyone, beginning within their own families. He also highlighted the importance of good parenting in building a strong and harmonious society.
Over 2,000 delegates from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland are participating in the conference, which will conclude on December 17, 2025.
Speaking on the sidelines, Conference Chairman Lungkubuan Phaomei stated that the primary objective of organising the conference is to promote oneness, strengthen unity within families and society, and spread the message of love and unity among the brethren.
