Agartala, May 18, 2026: After a hiatus of nearly three months, the donation boxes at the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple were opened on Monday, drawing significant attention from devotees and officials alike. The counting process began in the morning and continued throughout the day, covering 16 chests and donation boxes within the temple premises.

Administrative sources revealed that, alongside Indian currency, a notable amount of foreign currency was recovered. These included US Dollars, Dinars from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Nepalese currency, and Bangladeshi Taka—highlighting the temple’s growing prominence among international pilgrims and tourists.

To ensure transparency and efficiency, a 16-member team was constituted by the District Magistrate’s office of Gomati district. Despite intermittent rain causing brief disruptions, the counting proceeded under tight security and administrative supervision. Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chatterjee stated that the process was expected to conclude between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Temple authorities informed that the collected funds would be utilized for developmental activities, including maintenance and renovation of the shrine, events of rituals and festivals, and improvement of facilities for devotees.

In a touching moment during the counting, CRPF Constable Buddhadev Das donated his entire first month’s salary of ₹33,310 to the temple. His gesture of devotion moved those present and added emotional significance to the day’s proceedings.

The substantial volume of donations once again reflects the deep faith of devotees from across India and abroad, reaffirming the temple’s spiritual and cultural importance.
