Hemant Verma Assumes Charge as Chairman of Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission

Agartala, September 23, 2025: Hemant Verma on Monday assumed charge as the new Chairman of the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC).

Power Minister Ratanlal Nath administered the oath of office to Verma at the Secretariat. Welcoming him, the minister said, “We welcome Hemant Verma as the new Chairman of Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission. I am sure that his vast experience will bring significant reforms and customer-friendly electricity services in the power sector.”

Verma previously served as Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission and held senior positions in the Central Electricity Authority, Delhi Electricity Board, and BCS Rajdhani Power Limited. Over his career, he has led initiatives in reducing AT&C losses, integrating renewable energy, promoting demand-side management, and advancing customer-centric digital services.

The Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission functions as the apex body for determining electricity tariffs in the state. It frames regulations after reviewing consumer grievances and ensures alignment with policies and guidelines issued by distribution companies.
