Agartala, October 11, 2025: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday chaired a high-level virtual meeting with senior officials of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) from the State Secretariat to deliberate on strategic initiatives for boosting Tripura’s tourism infrastructure.

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the government’s vision to position Tripura as a major tourism hub in the Northeast with global visibility. “Our objective is to not only attract domestic and international tourists but also create sustainable employment opportunities for local communities,” Chowdhury stated.

A key agenda of the discussion was the proposed development of a modern adventure, eco-tourism, and water park at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania subdivision of West Tripura district. The facility, inspired by Kolkata’s Nicco Park, is expected to become a major recreational attraction in the state.

Minister Chowdhury informed that SIDBI has agreed to extend financial support for the project under its Cluster Development Fund Scheme (SCDF). He urged officials to expedite the execution process to ensure timely completion of the park.

The Minister also discussed broader prospects of collaboration with SIDBI to attract investment in tourism-linked infrastructure, thereby strengthening Tripura’s position as a dynamic and eco-friendly tourist destination.
