The Kuki Inpi Manipur has strongly condemned what it described as continued violence and aggression by sections of the Tangkhul community against the Kuki-Zo community in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.

In a statement issued by its Secretariat, the organisation cited the burning of Lanchah Kuki Village in Kamjong district as a serious escalation of tensions and called for immediate intervention and accountability from the authorities. It also referred to earlier incidents, including the burning of Gampal and Haijang villages, alleged armed attacks on Kuki settlements, and the killing of civilians.

The organisation stated that despite repeated incidents, the Kuki community had exercised restraint in the interest of maintaining peace and coexistence. It expressed concern over the continued targeting of civilians and destruction of homes, warning that such acts could further strain inter-community relations.

The statement further noted that the incident occurred at a time when the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum had appealed for an end to hostilities, adding that the violence undermines ongoing peace efforts.

The organisation also alleged that residents of Chassad and nearby areas were being denied essential supplies by neighbouring communities, calling it a humanitarian issue requiring urgent attention.
Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence, the Kuki Inpi Manipur said continued restraint should not be mistaken for weakness and warned that the community is prepared to defend its people and land if aggression persists. It called for immediate steps to restore normalcy and prevent further violence.
