Gangtok, April 10: The Sikkim government on Thursday stated that the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the state has been restored to 100 percent of pre-crisis levels, addressing the earlier shortfall in cooking gas availability.
Earlier, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) had reduced LPG supplies to around 80 percent following a nationwide shortage linked to the West Asia crisis.
According to the Food and Civil Supplies Department, supply has now returned to normal levels following coordination between the state government and oil marketing companies.
Officials stated that LPG availability is expected to improve across all districts, with distribution being monitored to ensure adherence to regular supply schedules.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also increased the allocation of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders for Sikkim. The additional supply is aimed at supporting migrant labourers and supplementing existing kerosene provisions.
The state government stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and maintain regular LPG supply. Residents have been advised to contact District Control Room helplines for assistance or to report any supply-related issues.
