A one-day awareness programme on child protection was organised today at Loktak Christian Model High School, Moirang, by the District Child Protection Unit, Bishnupur, under the Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with ZEO Bishnupur and supervised by the District Administration.
Addressing the students, Bishnupur Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam underscored the importance of student life as a stage to set goals, work towards them, and build a strong foundation for the future. She encouraged students to develop healthy friendships, maintain a positive outlook, participate in sports and extracurricular activities, and focus on overall growth.
The DC reminded students that mistakes are a part of learning and should not be magnified. “No mistake is big enough to define your life. Whenever you face an unfavourable situation, seek help from teachers or parents,” she said. She also urged students to use social media responsibly, cautioning against over-dependence and misinformation.
As part of the programme, Dr. Leishangthem Jeebit Singh, DSP Cyber Crime, spoke on online safety and cybercrime-related issues, while Aribam Gulson Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, DMHP Bishnupur, delivered a session on mental health. District Child Protection Officer Indrani Chongtham, teachers, and officials were also present.
The Cybercrime Helpline number 1930 was also highlighted during the session for reporting online crimes.
