Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei, officially launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025 today at the DC Complex, Thoubal. The campaign is a nationwide pre-Kharif initiative by the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Speaking at the launch, DC Hannah Kahmei emphasized that the campaign aims to equip farmers with knowledge about modern farming techniques and to raise awareness about various government schemes available under the Ministry of Agriculture.
As part of the Abhiyan, awareness programs will be conducted in 108 villages across Thoubal and Kakching districts. The key objectives include promoting modern agricultural practices, informing farmers about beneficial government schemes and policies, popularizing the use of Soil Health Cards, and encouraging the judicious use of chemical fertilizers.
The campaign will continue until June 12 and is part of a biannual effort conducted ahead of both the Kharif and Rabi sowing seasons. The initiative aims to modernize Indian agriculture through scientific outreach, sustainable practices, and empowerment of farmers.
The launching event was attended by Dr. Zesmarni Sarangthem, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Thoubal, along with the District Agriculture Officer, District Fishery Officer, and officials from the Agriculture Department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thoubal.
