Shillong, May 28: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will embark on a three-day visit to Meghalaya starting Friday to review preparations for the 39th National Games scheduled in March next year.
During the tour, Mandaviya will chair a high-level review meeting on the state’s readiness to host the Games and inaugurate the newly built Integrated Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex in Shillong. The Host State Contract for the event will also be formally signed with Meghalaya in the presence of senior dignitaries and representatives of the Indian Olympic Association.
In addition to the Games-related engagements, the Minister is expected to participate in programmes focused on youth affairs, sports infrastructure development, and the progress of centrally-sponsored schemes in the state. His visit Emphasizes the Centre’s commitment to ensuring that Meghalaya is fully prepared to host one of India’s largest sporting events.
