The East Khasi Hills administration has imposed time-bound traffic restrictions on the Shillong–Dawki highway following repeated landslide incidents in the region.

The Pynursla subdivision announced that the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem stretch will be closed to vehicular traffic daily from 12 pm to 4 pm and from 9 pm to 4 am.

The restrictions will remain in effect from August 20 to August 31 and may be revised after a review. Officials noted that the curbs could impact tourists visiting popular destinations such as Mawlynnong, Dawki, Shnongpdeng, and Darrang.
