Shillong, April 21: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday officially launched the CM Inspire initiative, a financial support scheme designed to strengthen the prospects of civil service aspirants from Meghalaya.

Under the programme, candidates who clear the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) preliminary examinations will receive a grant of ₹50,000, while those who qualify for the mains will be awarded ₹1 lakh. Sangma emphasized that the scheme’s primary objective is to ease the financial burden associated with the demanding preparation for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Expressing concern over the state’s declining representation in the central services, the Chief Minister noted that no indigenous candidate from Meghalaya has joined the IAS since 2013. He underscored that CM Inspire is tailored to empower meritorious students and motivate the youth to pursue national service with commitment and pride.

Applications for the scheme will be facilitated through the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) portal once the registration window opens. Sangma urged young aspirants to remain steadfast in their ambitions, assuring them that the government stands firmly behind their journey toward becoming future administrators
